Estimation on Regional Cerebral Blood Flow Using 99mTc-HMPAO SPECT in Schizophrenia

Abstract

|
|
To investigate the regional cerebral blood flows I schizophrenics, a total of 9 patients and 9 normal controls, were studied by single photon emission computed tomography(SPECT) using 99mTc-HMPAO.
Regions of interest were applied on supraventricular and midventricular slices.
The mean purpose of this study was to find the differences in regional cerebral blood flow between patients and normal controls as well as the changes in cerebral blood flow after 8 weeks medical treatment and symptomatic improvement.
@ES The results were as follow:
@EN 1. Regional cerebral blood flows in schizophrenics were not statistically different from the normal controls in pretreatment phase.
2. Regional cerebral blood flows in schizophrenics were not statistically different between pretreatment phase and post-8-weeks medical treatment.
3. Resional cerebral blood flows were not determined by medication status and severity of psychotic symptoms.
